Math: We have only had a couple days of math this week because of music rehearsal. We have continued to work on place value, rounding to 10 and 100 and answering more complicated number stories. We still are empathizing explaining our process and determining if our answer is reasonable rather than just striving for the "right" answer.
Social Studies: We are having so much fun on our road trip in the Northeast. This week we have visited Mount Washington, learned about the pilgrims settling in Plymouth Massachusetts, we saw the Erie Canal and even made a stop at the Hershey chocolate factory in Pennsylvania. We are documenting our journey on our tour logs and are having fun writing post cards to people back home.
Reading: We have spent our time working on a culminating project to wrap up our character study unit. Each student is making their own "Step Inside" project where they are pretending to be their main character. They are answering questions such as:
- Explain at least 2 different emotions you had during the story and why you felt that way. Use evidence from the story
- Explain a turning point you had during the story and why it was a turning point for you
- Discuss a lesson you learned, how did you learn it? What happened in the story that made you learn this
- How did you grow during the story and what is responsible for this growth?
- What did you do as a character that surprised you? Why did you do it?
- Explain at least 2 different emotions you had during the story and why you felt that way. Use evidence from the story
We hope you have a wonderful weekend!
