This has been a busy and fast week in room 12! We have had a lot of fun finishing our holiday gifts and we can't wait for you to open and enjoy them! We had an awesome time at our holiday party on Thursday!! We loved our winter "read-in" as we dressed in our cozy PJs and read in a comfy spot around our classroom. This week has been filled with many festive events!
Math: We are really being challenged in math. We are trying to understand how to measure to the nearest inch, half inch and quarter inch. If you have extra time over break your student might benefit with some extra practice in this area. We are also using our measurement skills to answer word problems.
Reading: We used all of our new understanding about fiction and created keynote presentations where we show our audience what we have learned about the different aspects of the story's plot. We included information about conflict, characters, problem and solution, and setting. Please check out our seesaw feed to see what we created!
Writing: We finished our writing resource guides this week! We reviewed capitalization and punctuation rules, we discussed paragraph structure in more depth, and we reviewed what makes a complete sentence. We each made resource guides to help us remember these rules and we will use them throughout the year to help our writing skills. Check out seesaw to view our resource guides.
We hope you have a wonderful winter break with your family! The students shared this morning in sharing circle all the things that they have to look forward to over these next to weeks. For those of you who are traveling we wish you safe travels. See you in 2016!
