Today third graders we read an article very closely in order to really understand what the author was trying to teach us. We actually read the article 3 times, each time with a different purpose:
1st Read: We read the article from beginning to end without stopping to discuss it. We were trying to get the FLOW of the article and understand a little bit about the topic.
2nd Read: We used symbols to mark up the text so that we were familiar with important words, ideas and also so we identified words that we did not understand.
3rd Read: We wrote down the bid ideas of each paragraph and discussed those big ideas with our classmates.
Now it is time to see if we really understand this article after all this hard work!! Please use what you learned in your reading to answer the following questions:
